Handmade Indo Persian Gabbeh mat - 308644

We recently came across these small hand-knotted pieces made in India. They are quite charming and fun. The pieces are authentic in every way, with the designs inspired by old Gabbeh pieces modified for the size of the mats. The traditional hand-knotted wool is crafted onto a cotton warp using cotton wefts, creating a thick pile. They make ideal gifts and are a lovely introduction to the timeless world of Oriental rug craftsmanship. The beautiful barber pole selvedge on many of these mats is worth noting. Also, the end is finished with a flat kilim end, which has been folded to form a finish (no Fringe). Brightly coloured and naturally coloured wools make these pieces noteworthy.
