The Qashqai tribal confederation comprises five major tribes: Dareshuri, Farsimadan, Sheshboluki, Amaleh, and Kashkuli. Although these versions differ, we believe the arrival of the Qashqai Tribes in Iran coincided with Genghis Khan's thirteenth-century conquests.

Kilim rugs are both serviceable and practical, offering the owner the advantage of being made from one of the most wonderful natural yarns, wool, and often being completely reversible. Vegetable-dyed wool is a beautiful natural fibre that usually contains high levels of lanolin, making it very practical. Kelim are woven from hand-dyed wool in both the warp and the weft. The patterns produced are often identified by the region where they are made, and the designs are passed down from mother to daughter through generations.

The term we use to describe a flat woven rug rather than a hand-knotted rug (pile) appears in two forms (to assist your search). Flat-woven rugs produced in Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, and Turkey are known as kilims, whereas those made in Iran (Persia) are Called Kelims.
