The pieces are often salvaged from old Turkish or Anatolian kilims, allowing the pattern to be cut in unusual and interesting ways. The fibre-filled cushions are more suitable for individuals with feather allergies. The contrasting kilim features embroidery in orange, red, cream, and black, which contrasts with the darker brown goat-hair fabric. The back of the cushion is usually made of faux suede or cotton.
